Why Ginesys Matters for Indian Retail

Ginesys is the ERP that Indian retail brands grow up on. If you run physical stores, especially in fashion, lifestyle, or FMCG, there is a good chance your POS, warehouse management, franchise billing, and inventory control runs on Ginesys. It handles the complexity of multi-store retail well: inter-store transfers, purchase orders, GRN (goods receipt notes), barcode management, and GST-compliant invoicing. For brands with 10 to 500 stores, Ginesys is often the operational backbone.

Ginesys One, their newer cloud platform, adds some e-commerce capabilities. But the reality for most brands is that their Ginesys instance handles offline retail, and their online business runs on a completely separate stack: Shopify or a custom website for D2C, Unicommerce or SellerCloud for marketplace management, and a separate logistics partner integration. These systems do not talk to each other natively.

The Omnichannel Inventory Problem

The core problem is simple: when a customer walks into your store and buys the last 3 units of a product, your Flipkart listing should reflect this immediately. When a Myntra order ships from your warehouse, your Ginesys inventory should adjust. In practice, this synchronization either does not happen, happens with a delay of hours or days, or requires someone to manually update numbers across systems.

The consequences are expensive. Overselling on marketplaces leads to cancellations, which tanks your seller rating. Underselling happens when you hold back 'safety stock' for online channels, tying up capital in buffer inventory that may not be needed. Store staff manually checking online orders against physical stock wastes hours daily. And the brand owner never has a real-time view of total inventory across all channels.

We have seen brands with 30% of their inventory locked in this 'buffer' because they do not trust the numbers across systems. At a 40% gross margin, that is a massive amount of working capital sitting idle because of an integration gap.

How We Connect Ginesys to Online Channels

Our integration approach has three layers, each delivering standalone value.

Layer 1: Real-time inventory sync. We connect to Ginesys via API (or database sync for older versions) and to your online channels (Unicommerce, Shopify, or direct marketplace APIs). When inventory changes in any system, all other systems update within minutes. This eliminates overselling and removes the need for safety buffer stock. Implementation: 3 to 5 days.

Layer 2: AI-powered intelligence. With unified inventory data flowing, the AI layer adds demand forecasting (per channel, per store, per SKU), automated reorder suggestions, and anomaly detection (unusual stock movements, potential shrinkage, slow-moving inventory alerts). Forecasts account for online vs offline demand patterns, which often differ significantly for the same product. Implementation: 1 week (needs 4 to 8 weeks of data for accurate forecasting).

Layer 3: WhatsApp access. The brand owner and operations team can query the unified system via WhatsApp. 'Total stock of product X across all stores and online?' 'Which stores are overstocked on winter collection?' 'What is our online vs offline sell-through this month?' All answered in seconds from WhatsApp, pulling data from both Ginesys and online systems. Implementation: 2 to 3 days.

Ginesys + Unicommerce: The Full Stack

For brands that use both Ginesys (offline) and Unicommerce (online), our AI layer becomes the connective tissue. Ginesys is the source of truth for store inventory, franchise billing, and offline POS data. Unicommerce is the source of truth for marketplace orders, online inventory allocation, and e-commerce returns. Our AI agent reads from both, provides unified views, and enables actions across systems.

A practical example: a fashion brand with 40 stores on Ginesys and 4 marketplaces on Unicommerce. The AI agent provides a morning WhatsApp report showing total inventory by category (online + offline), yesterday's sell-through by channel, items approaching stockout across any channel, and recommended inter-store transfers to optimize stock distribution. The operations head reviews this on their phone during their morning commute and approves actions with a reply.

What About Ginesys One?

Ginesys One is Ginesys's cloud-native platform that includes some omnichannel features. If your brand is already on Ginesys One with their OMS (order management system) module, you may have basic online-offline inventory sync covered. Where our AI layer still adds value is in three areas: demand forecasting (Ginesys One does not predict future demand), WhatsApp access (Ginesys One requires browser login), and cross-system intelligence when you use additional systems like Busy for accounting or separate WMS tools.

For brands still on Ginesys ERP (not Ginesys One), the integration gap is larger, and our AI layer provides more immediate value by bridging online and offline inventory before you undertake a full Ginesys One migration.

Getting Started

The integration does not require changes to your Ginesys setup. We work with your existing Ginesys instance (ERP or One), connect via API or database, and deploy the AI layer alongside it. Your store operations, POS workflows, and accounting processes continue unchanged. The only visible difference for your team is that they can now query inventory and get alerts via WhatsApp, and your online-offline inventory stays in sync automatically.

Typical timeline: 1 to 3 months from kickoff to live, including testing across all stores and channels. No Ginesys downtime required.
